Our Church School

At St Mary’s C E Primary School, we are proud of the distinctive Christian ethos that permeates every aspect of school life. Guided by our vision — “Live, Love and Learn Together in the Light of the Life of Christ” — we seek to ensure that every member of our school community flourishes in mind, body, heart, and spirit.

Our vision is theologically rooted in Ephesians 5:8–11, 13–14:

“For once you were in darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light.”

This verse inspires us to nurture children who live as lights in the world — kind, compassionate, and confident individuals who reflect God’s love in all they do. Our core Christian values of Faith, Hope, and Charity shape our relationships, decision-making, and collective worship, helping pupils grow in character and wisdom.

We encourage all in our community to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn, ensuring that our actions and attitudes reflect our shared commitment to living as children of light.

Through the teaching of Religious Education, we help pupils develop the knowledge, empathy, and critical thinking skills needed to hold balanced and well-informed conversations about religion and worldviews, and to form their own reflective, personal worldview.
